In this seminar we discuss the history of how a city became sacred to three religions, the impact of the Crusades on the demography and built environment of Jerusalem and the memory of medieval Jerusalem today. For students interested in history, literature, and religious and social conflict, architecture, and archaeology. One research paper, one literature review, and regular reading responses. Reading load is moderate to heavy.
