Examines a particular aspect of Boccaccio’s works, such as the Decameron. Issues may include Boccaccio’s role in the construction of a vernacular literary community, his place in the history of literary criticism, his investigations of gender, or his relationship to the larger storytelling traditions. Taught in English with an Italian preceptorial available for majors or minors. Instructor: Eisner. One course.
